Kirsten Lundberg
Kirsten Lundberg is director of the Knight Case Studies Initiative, which she started in 2007 at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She has been writing and editing “teaching” cases for years, most recently about journalism and formerly about public policy issues at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. She has led numerous workshops, in the U.S. and abroad, on how to teach and write case studies. Before Harvard, Lundberg worked for United Press International in Moscow, Stockholm, Brussels and London.

The Knight Case Studies Initiative aims to enhance the way journalism is taught by giving teachers powerful new tools for the classroom. The goal is to train students to think like newsroom managers and industry leaders.
Through class discussion, students have the opportunity to examine in depth a wide range of editorial, ethical and economic issues. Students are asked to put themselves in the shoes of editors, publishers, reporters and other news personnel.
